Our Story

The Oromahoe Trust is the administration unit created out of the amalgamation of several land blocks (Oromahoe 18R2B2B2) totaling 1052.79 hectares in and around Oromahoe.

Governed as an Ahu Whenua Trust under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, it serves over 1,500 shareholders representing the local hapū: Ngāti Kawa, Te Ngare Hauata, Te Matarahurahu, Te Whanaurara, Ngāti Kaihoro, and Ngāti Rāhiri.

The Trust is situated in the heart of the Far North, just 15 minutes from Kerikeri, Kaikohe, Paihia, and Waitangi.  The core business of the Trust is beef and sheep farming and forestry.

Farming

Our farm spans 1,050 hectares, with 727 hectares in effective production. Managed by a skilled team of a Farm manager, 2 x shepherds, 1 x general hand, and a farm consultant, we focus on sustainable, high-yield farming practices that align with environmental kaitiakitanga.

Forestry

The Oromahoe Trust manages three small pinus radiata pine forests, with a combined area of 24.6 hectares. These forest blocks were planted post 1990 and are now approaching full maturity.
