Kaumātua Grants

Oromahoe Trust Kaumātua Grants

Kaumātua Grants are available to those shareholders of the Oromahoe 18R2B2B2 Trust that are over 60 years old.

Grants are open until the 31st of March every year.

To apply for an education grant, you must meet the eligibility criteria below.

1.    Applicant Requirements

  • The Applicant for the grant must hold shares in the Oromahoe 18R2B2B2 Trust as one of   the following:

 

  • The named Shareholder;

  • Administrator;

  • Whānau Trust Trustee(s).

 

  • The applicants name must appear in the current Oromahoe 18R2B2B2 Trust Schedule of Owners held at the Māori Land Court Offices or Māori Land Court Online.


2.    Whanau Trusts

 

  • If you are a trustee of a whānau trust that already has an individual receiving a Kaumātua        grant, you will not be eligible to apply.

 
3.    Kaumatua and Education Grants

 

  • Only one grant can be awarded to a recorded shareholder per year. Either a: 

  • Kaumātua Grant, or 

  • An Education Grant (Tertiary or School, including Secondary, Intermediate, or Primary).

  • Once qualified for a Kaumātua Grant, payments will continue automatically for the                      shareholder's lifetime to the bank account provided in the application unless:

 

  • The shareholder applies for and successfully receives an education grant that year.

-  This would disqualify the shareholder for a Kaumātua Grant for that year. 

-  If the education grant is unsuccessful, the Kaumātua Grant will still be               paid. 

-  The next year if no education grant is received the the Kaumātua Grant            will be reactivated and paid.

  • The shareholder vests their shares. A trustee may apply for the previous shareholder to receive a grant if the Trust Order permits it.

4.    Grant Approval Process

 

  • Grants will be tabled and either accepted or rejected at a Trustee meeting. 

  • The Trustee’s decision is final. 

  • If further information is required, the applicant has until end of April to provide the                        requested details. 

 
5.    Terms and Conditions

 

  • By submitting the application, the shareholder authorises the Trust to verify all details and    retain information supplied for reference purposes. 

  • If Administered or Trust shares, the majority of other people named as Trustees or Administrators must have been informed of and agree to this application.

  • All information requested on the grant application must be fully completed.

  • It is the recipient's responsibility to provide the Trust with current bank account and                    contact details. The Trust will not investigate incorrect details.

6.    Key Dates
  • The closing date for grant applications is 31 March.

  • Grants will be paid in April or May.

  • have a brief summary or a file of your whakapapa to support your application?

  • have a certified bank account number file for processing payment?
